Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 28, 2026
TeslaBytes ("we," "us," "our") operates teslabytes.net. We respect your privacy and keep our data practices deliberately minimal. This policy explains what is and isn't collected when you use the site.
The short version
We don't make you create an account, and we don't ask for or store your name, email, or payment details. Our cost calculator runs entirely in your browser — the numbers you enter are not sent to or saved on our servers. This site sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics. We earn from affiliate links (and may show ads in the future); any cookies are set only by those third parties on their own sites after you click through. Because we store nothing on your device, there's no cookie banner — there's nothing to consent to.
What we collect
- Calculator inputs — stay on your device. Every calculation happens locally in your browser. Your entries (vehicle, mileage, state, financing, etc.) are not transmitted to us. A "Copy link" share link encodes only the basic scenario and is created only when you click it.
- Approximate location. To pre-fill the calculator with your state's averages, our pages read a region-level location signal from our content-delivery network (Cloudflare) edge. This is processed per-request to pick a default state and is not stored by us or tied to your identity. You can change the state at any time.
- Live price lookups. The calculator fetches current regional gas prices through an anonymous request. No identifying information is attached.
- Standard server logs. Our hosting/CDN provider (Cloudflare) may process standard technical data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages, prevent abuse, and keep the site secure, governed by Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
Cookies, advertising & affiliate links
As of the date above, TeslaBytes sets no first-party cookies and uses no localStorage, sessionStorage, analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising tags. Our pages and the calculator function without cookies.
- Advertising (not currently active). We do not display ads today. If we add Google AdSense in the future, Google and its partners may use advertising cookies to serve ads, and we will request your consent through a consent banner where required (e.g. for visitors in the EU, UK, and Switzerland) before any such cookies are set. At that point you'll also be able to opt out of personalized advertising in your Google Ads Settings or via aboutads.info.
- Affiliate links. Links to Amazon, Tesla, and other partners are ordinary links — we place no tracking pixel or affiliate script on our pages. Any cookies are set by those companies on their own websites only after you click a link and land there, controlled by them, not us. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
- Because we set no cookies, there's nothing to block here today. If we enable advertising later, you'll be able to manage your choices through the consent tool we provide and via your browser settings.
How we use information
Only to deliver and improve the site: render pages, pre-set regional defaults, and earn affiliate commissions. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don't build user profiles. If we enable advertising in the future, we'll provide a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" control and honor Global Privacy Control signals.
Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access or delete personal data held about you. Because we don't set cookies or collect identifying information directly, most such data would be held by our service providers (Cloudflare for hosting/security logs) under their policies; contact us and we'll help direct your request.
Children
TeslaBytes is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes & contact
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version. Questions? Email contact@teslabytes.net.
